Winter in the Hills has a magic all of its own.
The air is fresh, the paddocks are turning green, and the season brings with it moments that nurture connection – from twilight festivals to fires and crackers!
Here are two ways to get into your Hills winter spirit:
✨ @hillswinterlanternfest – Saturday, 14 June, Echunga (pictured)
From 3pm–8pm, enjoy live music, food stalls, kids’ activities, a twilight lantern parade and a fiery finale to light up the winter sky. A free, family-friendly event that brings the community together.
🔥 Hills Winter Solstice Eve – Friday, 20 June, Pop-Up Park, Mount Barker
Celebrate the longest night of the year with fire pits, fire performers, live music, toasted marshmallows, winter cocktails, kids’ activities, food trucks and more. From 3:30pm–8:30pm with free entry – it’s all about warmth, wonder and community.
💥 Mylor Bonfireworks – Saturday, 28 June, Mylor Oval
A ticketed celebration and one of the Hills’ most beloved winter gatheringsby @mylor.oval. Gates open at 5:30pm, with live music, food stalls, mulled wine, free kids’ entertainment, a blazing bonfire and fireworks at 8:30pm. All funds raised support a new local sports and recreation centre – a true community effort.
