A top drop is only a stone’s throw away from Newenham. The Adelaide Hills is one of South Australia’s most renowned wine regions, with the perfect elements of rich soil, cool climate and fabulous location, combining to produce consistently high-quality wines.

The area has become a mecca for winemakers, many of whom enjoy locations with spectacular views over the hills, valleys and vineyards. At Newenham, we love to support local businesses and that includes the many amazing Adelaide Hills wineries and cellar doors that also call the Hills home, so grab some friends and explore the many wonders of our beautiful wine region.

Here are a few Adelaide Hills wineries to get you started, with your designated driver at the wheel. Enjoy!

      Ngeringa

Kicking off in Mount Barker we’ll begin with Ngeringa, the nature-loving certified biodynamic vineyard and winery nestled into Mount Barker Summit. Originally the land was part of the famous Mount Barker home of the Jurlique herb farm, and the owners have maintained the same organic ethos. You can taste winemaker Erinn Klein and co-founder, Janet Klein’s vibrant, classically European inspired wines at the Ngeringa cellar door. Grab a cosy nook by the wood oven in the cooler months or sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view on the verandah in warmer temperatures. Relax with a glass of wine and a delicious plate of sustainably produced nibbles to munch. You can also sign up for their newsletter to find out when special events are being held that may include wood oven pizza days and long lunches.

      Howard Vineyard

Next, we turn to Howard Vineyard, a stunning family-owned Adelaide Hills winery, located between Mount Barker and Nairne. Stop by this rustic and charming cellar door for a taste of their pretty cabernet franc rosé, with the berries picked at night to reduce the overall colour – it’s millennial pink in a glass. Book for a lazy Sunday lunch and indulge in some Asian inspired cuisine at the Clover Restaurant, courtesy of head chef, Heather Day. The seasonal, locally produced menu is matched with Howard Vineyards wines – naturally. Relaxed and informal, family-friendly with lots of grass for children to run around on, this is one Hills winery you’ll be coming back to again and again.
