Lovers of all things beautiful and bright gathered in Newenham’s beautifully renovated garage on Saturday 24 June to participate in a unique floral workshop with local florist and events company, Fleur de Lys.
An absolutely fabulous day was had by all who attended, as they learnt of the importance of creating a foliage base, what to use and how to start, colour matching, flower selection and so much more: all the crucial tips to be able to create stunning floral arrangements.
Accompanied by Wicks Estate champagne and a platter filled with locally produced goodies, attendees watched on as Liesa from Fleur de Lys taught them a few of her tips and tricks for designing the perfect arrangement, before they were given the opportunity to create a floral masterpiece for themselves.
With a wide selection of magnificent blooms on the table, each arrangement was completely different, reflective of personal taste and personality; no two were the same!

The setting was gorgeous amongst the wide open space of rolling hills, country air and warm sunshine. We shared cheese and bubbles and I got to bring my abundant flower filled vase home as well as a gift of flower cutting shears. Newenham and Fleur de Lys will be hosting these events until the end of the year, each with a different theme so you can continue on your floristry journey or pick and choose classes that most appeal to you. Every person also receives a pair of floristry secateurs to keep as a reminder of the day and to help you create your beautiful arrangements at home.
